First Sale!

Ok, so I'm a little wigged out right now. On wednesday night I was offered a contract from Samhain publishing for my novella Dragon's Birth. I'm so excited! A little in shock still, but excited too. Samhain is a new company, but they have already attracted some big names so it was a shock that they were interested in my story. Now I have to work hard on the second one...and tonight I had an inspiration for Vander's story - a story I had no intention of telling...Don't tell my dad but I get alot of inspiration while doing dishes....he'd wonder why I don't do them more often.

On other news...Nano was a flop for me this year, though I did better than last year so that's something right?

Deadlines for the January issue of Enchanted Ramblings is coming up so I have to get my butt in gear and finish my articles and stuff. Aline's such a slave driver!

Ok, so it's November 1st and more importantly it's the first day of Nano. I'm losing my mind already! I didn't have time to finalize the story I wanted to do and now I'm in that "what about this one? no, how about this one?" dance where I have to keep judging which story idea is more likely to sustain me for 50K without a lot of stalling....

I also figured out that I need to write at least 7 pages a day to complete my goal! yikes! This is going to be rough! maybe Aline and I can race our way through this's amazing how much that motivates me...and I didn't realize I had that much competative spirit!

Warning! Sappy post alert!

Wow, well, I never claimed I was good at keeping up with journals and diarys...I should have known I'd be bad about keeping a blog....then again I haven't had much to say that was worth posting.

This week (past 7 days, not the actual calander week) has been pretty eventful. Yesterday one of the girls in my writing group (I guess you could call us that) sold her first book! It was wonderful to be there for it. Also, I finished my first novella this morning, and others in our group have had extremely good weeks as far as page counts goes. It did make me think though, about whether or not I'd be writing still if I hadn't found a group of friends to share all the ups and downs with....ok, I am pretty sure I wouldn't still be writing. I'd have gotten discouraged and let something else, some other hobby take over.

Sharing a friends excitement over her first sale, bullying (and being bullied thanks Jessica and Aline) and having other writers to whine with is so important, and I just want to take this opportunity to thank the Prolific Scribes. I can't wait until the day we can all say we had a first sale party together.
